If You Require A Dental Crown This Is Most Likely The Best Route To Go

Getting a crown has actually long been known to be a two-visit dental experience. Many individuals have no idea that this is not the case with same day crowns. For our lucky patients, getting a crown only takes one visit!

The Old Fashioned Two-Visit Way

At the first appointment, impressions are taken of the tooth and the impression is sent to a laboratory so that your permanent crown can be made. Many individuals dislike the goopy impression materials that can make them gag and that takes up to 5 minutes in their mouth to set.

Then your tooth is shaved down so that your crown can be put on top of it. Then you receive a short-term crown cemented over the shaved tooth to hold you over till your long-term crown shows up from the laboratory. Then later, you need to go back to the dentist, have the short-term crown removed and the new crown positioned on your tooth

Same Day Tooth Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take precise digital imagery of locations requiring restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in just one visit. We will create and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer have to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to fabricate your crown.

CEREC can be used in a full range of indications: veneers, inlays, onlays, partial crowns, posterior crowns and anterior crowns.

Today Were Discussing:

Digital X-Rays

X-rays are a primary tool for early identification of dental problems.

Detecting issues with x-rays before they become problems can save you money in the long run by preventing the need for more extensive, costly treatments or surgeries. X-rays are mainly utilized to detect:

  • Cysts (fluid filled sacks at the base of your teeth).

  • Impacted teeth.

  • Teeth that are still coming in.

  • Tumors, both cancerous and non-cancerous.

  • Internal tooth decay.

Most dentists use digital x-rays, which have numerous advantages over conventional film based x-rays. Digital x-rays allow us to take x-rays with 1/5 of the radiation that you would receive from conventional dental x-rays. The worry of exposure to excess radiation is eliminated.

Large on-screen X-rays make patient communication more efficient. The immediate observation of the images on the screen enables us to discuss your dental health quickly and accurately.

Digital radiography has significantly enhanced the practice of dentistry. It enables the client and the medical professional to see pictures of the teeth in higher resolution on a large format for much easier detection of issues, all while reducing the radiation exposure to the client. The process we use further defines the radiograph, resulting in clinically meaningful images that are sharp, detailed and rich in contrast.

Images are available immediately after exposure, removing the wait and effort spent developing and installing x-rays. If an image has to be retaken, it can be done right away. Digital format also enables us to send out and get your images digitally for consultation that can be presented to you rapidly.
