What Are Single Visit Crowns?

Same day crowns are a brand-new innovation that a dental practitioner can economically bring back broken teeth in a single appointment using a premium ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling device in one instrument. The dental practitioner uses a unique camera to take an accurate photo of the broken tooth. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD technology to create the restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically produces the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface area of the old tooth. The entire procedure takes about one hour.

What Does This Innovation Mean For A Patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dental practitioners no longer need to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the standard 2nd appointment has actually been eliminated. This new technology has more than a decade of clinical research and documentation to support it. The restorations have been proven accurate, safe and effective.

Teeth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of most clients, there are numerous ways to lighten teeth. The most popular technique is using a home tooth lightening system that will bleach teeth significantly. Because tooth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after lightening so they will match the recently bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize numerous methods: customizeded tray whitening, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray approach involves having impressions taken, which the lab makes into custom vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire procedure takes about a week of everyday use. Three various strengths of gel may be utilized, however, the higher the strength, the greater the likelihood of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray method is advised for terribly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take a number of months of use to see considerable color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a very quick and practical lightening process. The visit is approximately one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our clients enjoy this treatment due to the fact that it is so easy and quick!

Tooth lightening is not permanent. A touch-up might be required once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays need to be used every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (extreme fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
