Same day crowns are an sophisticated dental technology that is used for the restoration of decayed, split, or cracked teeth. This technology can create complete crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers. The same day crown device crafts a restoration in a matter of minutes.

Same day crown restorations are made from compressed porcelain. It is for this reason that they are stronger than laboratory restorations, which are layered porcelain. The most beneficial feature of receiving a same day crown restoration is that it is achieved in one visit. In addition to the benefit of a one visit restoration, there is no uncomfortable impression material to bite on or a temporary crown to wear.

The procedure for placement of a same day crown restoration is very simple. The first step is to eliminate all decay from the tooth. The dentist will then shape the tooth in preparation to take a digital image. The tooth is then sprayed with a very fine powder. This allows the digital camera to take an appropriate image. When this image is recorded, the tooth will appear on a computer screen in 3D. This will permit the dentist to develop the restoration right in front of you.

When the design is completed, the same day crown device will mill the restoration. This step takes roughly 15 minutes. You can actually see this procedure if you would like. When the restoration is completed milling, the dental practitioner will position the restoration on your tooth.

Today's Conversation Will Be About:

Gum Disease (Periodontal Disease)

Gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. Because gum disease is normally painless, you may not know you have it. Also called periodontal disease, gum disease is caused by plaque, the sticky film of bacteria that is continuously forming on our teeth.

Some warning signs that can signal a problem:

  • gums that bleed easily.

  • red, swollen, tender gums.

  • gums that have retreated from the teeth.

  • consistent foul breath or bad taste.

  • permanent teeth that are separating or loose.

  • any difference in the way your teeth fit together when you bite.

  • any difference in the fit of partial dentures.

There are numerous factors that increase the risk of developing gum disease consisting of smoking cigarettes, pregnancy, and diabetes. It is very important to visit your dentist if you believe you have gum disease because the sooner you treat it the better.

The early stage of periodontal disease is called gingivitis. If you have gingivitis, your gums may become red, inflamed and bleed easily. At this stage, the disease is still reversible and can generally be eliminated by a professional cleaning at your dental office, followed by day-to-day flossing and brushing.

Advanced gum disease is called periodontitis. Chronic periodontitis can result in the loss of bone and tissue that support the teeth and it may become more serious in time. If it does, your teeth will feel loose and start moving around in your mouth. It normally becomes worse slowly, but there can be periods of fast progression.

Aggressive periodontitis is a highly destructive form of gum disease that occurs in patients who are otherwise healthy. Common features consist of rapid loss of bone and tissue and might take place in some areas of the mouth, or in the entire mouth.

Research between systemic diseases and periodontal diseases is ongoing. While a link is not conclusive, some research studies show that extreme periodontal disease might be related to a number of other health conditions such as stroke or diabetes.

Routine dental examinations and periodontal examinations are crucial. The treatment methods that most dentists diagnose will depend upon the type of disease and how far the condition has actually progressed. Great dental care at home is necessary to help keep gum disease from becoming more severe or recurring.
