Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a lovely and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with many dental restorations, veneers might one day need replacement; however, they are still very resilient and will last years, giving you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is generally referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique normally involves two visits because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and lovely veneers.
