What Are Single Visit Dental Crowns?

Same day crowns are a brand-new innovation that a dental expert can economically restore damaged teeth in a single appointment using a top quality ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling device in one instrument. The dentist uses a unique camera to take an accurate photo of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is downloaded and shown on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD technology to create the restoration. Then CAM takes over and instantly creates the restoration while the client waits. Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface area of the old tooth. The whole procedure takes about one hour.

Exactly What Does This Innovation Mean For A Client?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dentists no longer need to produce temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the traditional second visit has been eliminated. This new technology has more than a decade of clinical research and documentation to support it. The restorations have been proven precise, safe and reliable.

Today Were Talking About:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of the majority of patients, there are numerous ways to whiten teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth whitening system that will whiten teeth considerably. Because tooth bleaching only works on natural tooth enamel, it is necessary to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after lightening so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.

Most dentists use a number of approaches: customizeded tray bleaching, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray approach involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory produces into custom-made vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire procedure takes about a week of daily use. 3 different strengths of gel may be utilized, however, the higher the strength, the greater the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray approach is recommended for severely stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take multiple months of use to see substantial color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a very quick and hassle-free whitening process. The visit is around one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our patients enjoy this treatment because it is so simple and fast!

Tooth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up may be required once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays need to be used every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of external tooth layer.

  • Florousis (extreme fluoridation throughout tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
