What Are Single Visit Dental Crowns?

Same day crowns are a brand-new technology that a dentist can financially bring back broken teeth in a single appointment using a premium ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling device in one instrument. The dentist uses a special camera to take an precise picture of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is transferred and shown on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD innovation to create the restoration. Then CAM takes over and instantly produces the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The entire process takes about one hour.

Exactly What Does This Innovation Mean For A Client?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dental practitioners no longer have to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the standard 2nd appointment has been removed. This new technology has over 10 years of clinical research and documents to support it. The restorations have been proven accurate, safe and effective.

Today's Topic Will Be:

Endodontic Treatment (Root Canal)

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is essential when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and discover problems early). Sometimes deep restorations or trauma to a tooth may also trigger the nerve to be damaged to the point it requires root canal treatment. Once this occurs, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it has to be treated, and can not heal by itself. It can even deteriorate the whole immune system. This is dangerous, and might be really uncomfortable. Signs that the pulp has actually become infected might consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sugary foods, discomfort, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Sometimes, however, no symptoms are apparent and the individual is unaware of any issue till a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and sanitize the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to remove the tooth. Once the infection is fixed, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any further infection. Typically a core build-up and crown is suggested for recovering a tooth that has actually had root canal treatment.
