At our dental practice we do same day crowns. You may ask, exactly what are same day crowns and what can it provide for me?

It is a 3D system that lets us make porcelain crowns and inlays all in one appointment. We have actually now been using this innovation for many years and like it more than ever.

Same day crowns are an in-surgery computer system that allows us to replace broken or missing tooth structures with a ceramic product that's as close to a natural tooth as is possible.

This is done while you remain in the practice, in just one visit. All ceramic porcelain inlays and onlays, veneers and crowns that look like natural teeth can be made and placed in a single appointment, normally in about an hour.

So what is the procedure?

We scan the opposite teeth and the way the teeth bite together first. We remove the old filling, and degeneration and any thin weak tooth material and scan the prepared tooth.

After this we quit working in the mouth and start working on the computer.

Everyone likes seeing the pictures of their teeth and the developing of their new tooth. We make 3D design and this information is sent to the milling system.

Everyone asks if this is like 3D printing and yes it is, but the tooth isn't developed layer by layer, it is cut from a block in the device, which is much more durable.

The block is then exactly sculpted to produce your brand-new restoration, which is fantastic.

Finally, the customized crown restoration bonded perfectly into the tooth, reinforcing and sealing it at the same time and then we clean up!

We have to make certain that you can bite correctly, that its smooth and that you can floss.

Same Day Tooth Restorations

CEREC means CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take accurate digital images of locations requiring restoration and produce the suitable restoration on the spot.

Today We Will Be Reviewing:

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a metal device designed to replace missing teeth. The device is generally made out of titanium and is surgically placed into the jawbone where the tooth is missing. An implant is permanent, unlike a dental bridge.

Crowns and conventional bridges or dentures might not be your only options when replacing missing teeth. For some people, dental implants provide a smile that looks and feels very natural. Surgically positioned below the gums over a series of visits, implants connect to the jawbone and act as a base for bridges or a denture, individual replacement teeth.

Implants offer stability because they connect to your bone, a procedure called osseointegration. Integration of these implants into your jaw also helps your replacement teeth feel more natural and some people also find the secure fit is more comfortable than conventional replacements. Candidates for dental implants have to have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implant.

What Does A Dental Implant Involve?

A dental implant might be an option to replace a missing tooth. In this treatment, a small titanium shaft is surgically {placed|implanted into the bone and allowed to set. The bone grows around it forming a tight connection, which in addition slows or stops the bone loss that occurs when the root of a natural tooth is missing. Once the implant is securely embeded in the mouth, the dental practitioner then works to attach the replacement tooth onto the top of the shaft. This permanent solution has the advantages over bridge work that it does not stress the surrounding teeth for support, and, should the tooth wear out, another can merely be replaced on the shaft.

Implants can also be utilized as support as part of an implant bridge. This is an option to partial dentures, and has numerous benefits. First, there is no modification period to acclimatize the patient who, when the work is done, only feels teeth, not metal supports intruding into the mouth. Second, this slows the bone loss occasioned by missing teeth. Third, there is no pain or trouble in eating. And, best of all, of course, they don't have to be taken out all the time.
