Even though dental crowns are considered in addition to other procedures that fall under the cosmetic dentistry category, they can help to greatly improve any individual's oral health. Dental crowns are primarily used to restore the size, shape, and function of a tooth. Most commonly, dental crowns are used following a root canal therapy treatment where a portion of the tooth mass is eliminated in order to get rid of decayed parts of the tooth. A dental crown is then used to help restore exactly what parts of the tooth were lost so that it can function as it once did, fixing the oral well being of the client.

Often, dental crowns take some time to process and are crafted in a laboratory while the patient wears a temporary crown in its stead. Now we can provide patients with same day dental crowns! Instead of having to visit us numerous times prior to restoring your tooth, we can provide you with a crown the very same day that you come in to get one fitted.

Today's Conversation Is About:

Dental Bonding (Composite)

Bonding is a procedure where we apply a tooth-colored composite material to a tooth, shape it, allow it to harden, and polish it. It can be used in certain situations where a tooth has actually been damaged or ended up being stained. These are typically minor repairs, ones that can be resolved through this reasonably affordable means instead of through a more expensive dental procedure.

How It Works:
Bonding includes adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to repair damage done to the tooth by decay, to alter the positioning of the tooth, close gaps between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface area of the tooth is roughened in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface area, and a primer/bond agent is applied so the material adheres to the surface area. Then the material itself is positioned on the tooth and solidified with intense light. The composite resin material is shaped and polished to get a shiny finish as a last step.
