Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with many dental restorations, veneers may someday require replacement; however, they are still very resilient and will last years, offering you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique normally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy typically involves 2 visits because the veneers will be made at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab made veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
