Our practice loves brand-new innovations, specifically when it enhances the dental care that we can supply to our clients. Because of this we now provide same day crowns.

Same day crowns are a fantastic new innovation where lovely all porcelain crowns are produced within 2 hours of the preparation of a tooth for a crown. The old procedure was where the dental practitioner prepared your tooth for a crown, took an impression and sent this impression to a lab to have the crown constructed. During this time the client would need to wear a temporary plastic crown that was normally uncomfortable.

Today, our devices allows us to scan the tooth preparation and mill out a new all porcelain crown within two hours. This means that the patient leaves our office with the permanent crown that day!

  • There is no need to have a temporary crown for two to three weeks.

  • There's no need to return once more to have the single day crown placed on your tooth.

  • There's no need to be numbed once more! No more needles!

Our practice chooses same day crowns since it is made of beautiful material as well as exceptionally resilient.

If your thinking about a same day crown, please give our practice a call.

The Conversation Of The Day Will Be:

Fillings

Fillings are done to remove decay, and replace the afflicted tooth structure. It is called a filling due to the fact that new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can cause tooth pain and/or infection, and the tooth would need a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are two types of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists supply both types of fillings, but find that many of their clients like the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mix of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings provide excellent durability and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that need to endure moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is eliminated when the dentist prepares the tooth, and this might result in a smaller filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively attached, to the tooth, commonly allowing a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry throughout the entire filling procedure and they go through stain and staining with time. The life span of a white filling can depend considerably on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also frequently utilized to repair front teeth that have actually cracked or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is usually much more economical than veneers or crowns. However, bonding typically does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
