  • Convenience: With same day crowns, there is no requirement for a temporary crown, which eliminates significant potential discomfort and inconvenience of a lost short-term restoration. Only one visit means only one injection, or no injections if the tooth was formerly treated with a root canal. No traditional impressions which means there is no gagging.

  • Aesthetics: The strong, tooth-colored ceramic materials of this brand-new innovation restores your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function and closely match the composition of natural tooth structure.

  • Strength: Milled ceramic is tougher than the standard technique of layering and pressing, so your smile will stay stunning for multiple years!

  • Fillings: Same day crown material and technology can also be used for fillings. Because they are constructed of porcelain, they are more durable than white composite fillings. They are a lot more aesthetic than mercury including silver fillings and tougher because of bonding technology.

Today We Will Be Reviewing:

Fillings

Fillings are done to eliminate decay, and replace the afflicted tooth structure. It is called a filling since brand-new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can cause tooth pain and/or infection, and the tooth would require a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are 2 kinds of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists supply both types of fillings, however find that a number of their clients like the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mix of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings supply great resilience and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that need to stand up to moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is removed when the dental practitioner prepares the tooth, and this might lead to a smaller sized filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively connected, to the tooth, commonly allowing a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry throughout the entire filling procedure and they are subject to stain and discoloration over time. The life expectancy of a white filling can depend significantly on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also commonly utilized to repair front teeth that have actually chipped or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is typically much more economical than veneers or crowns. However, bonding usually does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
