Why Choose Single Visit Dental Crowns?

There are numerous advantages of same day crowns over traditional crown technology.

  • Time: Same day crowns are made in one appointment, saving you considerable time away from your job and family.

  • Convenience: With same day crowns, there is no requirement for a temporary crown, which eliminates significant potential discomfort and inconvenience of a lost short-term restoration. Only one visit means only one injection, or no injections if the tooth was formerly treated with a root canal. No conventional impressions which means there is no gagging.

  • Visual appeals: The strong, tooth-colored ceramic materials of this brand-new innovation restores your teeth to their natural durability, beauty, and function and carefully match the composition of natural tooth structure.

  • Strength: Milled ceramic is tougher than the traditional technique of layering and pressing, so your smile will stay beautiful for years!

  • Fillings: Same day crown material and technology can also be used for fillings. Since they are made out of porcelain, they are more long lasting than white composite fillings. They are much more aesthetic than mercury including silver fillings and stronger because of bonding technology.

If you have anymore questions about same day crowns or porcelain crowns, please don't hesitate to contact our office today. We will address any questions you have and you can make an appointment to talk to our dentist personally.

Today's Topic Is:

Root Canal (Endodontic Treatment)

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is needed when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and detect issues early). In some cases deep restorations or trauma to a tooth may also cause the nerve to be harmed to the point it needs root canal therapy. When this takes place, the pulp ends up being infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it should be treated, and can not recover on its own. It can even deteriorate the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and may be extremely painful. Signs that the pulp has ended up being infected may include sensitivity to hot/cold or sugary foods, discomfort, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Sometimes, however, no signs appear and the individual is unaware of any problem till a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and disinfect the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. When the infection is resolved, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any additional infection. Normally a core build-up and crown is recommended for recovering a tooth that has had root canal treatment.
