We will develop and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. Today's Conversation Has To Do With:

Root Canal (Endodontic Treatment)

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is required when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and find issues early). In some cases deep restorations or trauma to a tooth may also cause the nerve to be harmed to the point it needs root canal therapy. When this happens, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it needs to be treated, and can not heal on its own. It can even damage the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and might be very uncomfortable. Symptoms that the pulp has become infected might include sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, pain, swelling, discomfort to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Often, however, no signs appear and the individual is unaware of any issue up until a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and disinfect the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to remove the tooth. When the infection is resolved, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any further infection. Normally a core build-up and crown is recommended for bring back a tooth that has had root canal therapy.
