Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to a lot of dental restorations, veneers might at some point require replacement; however, they are still extremely long lasting and will last multiple years, offering you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy generally involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique normally involves two appointments because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is usually less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and lovely veneers.
