Same day crowns are an innovative dental technology that is utilized for the restoration of decayed, split, or cracked teeth. This technology can create full crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers. The same day crown device crafts a restoration in a matter of minutes.

Same day crown restorations are made from compressed porcelain. It is for this reason that they are stronger than lab restorations, which are layered porcelain. The most beneficial feature of receiving a same day crown restoration is that it is accomplished in one visit. In addition to the advantage of a one appointment restoration, there is no uncomfortable impression material to bite on or a temporary crown to wear.

The treatment for positioning of a same day crown restoration is really basic. The primary step is to remove all decay from the tooth. The dentist will then form the tooth in preparation to take a digital photo. The tooth is then sprayed with a very fine powder. This allows the digital camera to take an appropriate image. When this image is recorded, the tooth will appear on a computer screen in 3D. This will allow the dentist to develop the restoration right in front of you.

When the design is completed, the same day crown machine will mill the restoration. This step takes approximately 15 minutes. You can actually watch this process if you would like. When the restoration is completed milling, the dental practitioner will position the restoration on your tooth.

Today's Discussion Is About:

Fillings

Fillings are done to remove decay, and replace the afflicted tooth structure. It is called a filling due to the fact that new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can cause tooth discomfort and/or infection, and the tooth would require a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are 2 kinds of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists supply both kinds of fillings, but find that a number of their clients prefer the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mixture of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings supply great resilience and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that have to withstand moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is eliminated when the dentist prepares the tooth, and this may result in a smaller filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively attached, to the tooth, often allowing a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry throughout the whole filling process and they go through stain and discoloration over time. The life span of a white filling can depend significantly on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also commonly utilized to fix front teeth that have broken or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is generally much less expensive than veneers or crowns. However, bonding usually does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
