Temporary crowns and 2nd visits for crowns are now typically unnecessary thanks to the same day crown technology. We offer this exciting one-visit crown innovation in our office, adding greater convenience to the procedure of getting a crown. The waiting time between your treatment and when you get your long-term crown is eliminated.

The same day crown innovation is an instrument that enables ceramic restorations (crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays) to be performed in one check-up instead of two. The computer collaborates with a digital camera permitting the dentist to make digital impressions without the annoyance of bulky impression material.

After taking the picture the computer takes control and mills your custom-made crown immediately so that we can cement your new crown that same day. The results we see are incredible. With the same day crowns, the strength, aesthetics, and fit of the ceramic restorations are exceptional.

Same Day Tooth Restorations

CEREC means CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take precise digital imagery of areas needing restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in just one visit. We will create and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to fabricate your crown.

CEREC can be used for a wide scope of indications: anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays, partial crowns and posterior crowns.

Today We Will Be Going Over:

Fillings

Fillings are done to remove decay, and replace the affected tooth structure. It is called a filling since new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can result in tooth pain and/or infection, and the tooth would need a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are 2 types of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists provide both kinds of fillings, but find that many of their patients choose the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mix of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings provide great toughness and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that have to stand up to moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is removed when the dentist prepares the tooth, and this may lead to a smaller filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively attached, to the tooth, often allowing a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry throughout the whole filling procedure and they go through stain and staining in time. The life expectancy of a white filling can depend considerably on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also frequently used to fix front teeth that have broken or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is normally much cheaper than veneers or crowns. However, bonding typically does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
