Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a gorgeous and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to the majority of dental restorations, veneers might one day need replacement; however, they are still extremely long lasting and will last multiple years, providing you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is positioned over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy usually involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect method typically involves 2 visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is usually less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your new and beautiful veneers.
