Dental Bonding (Composite)
Bonding is a procedure in which we use a tooth-colored composite material to a tooth, shape it, allow it to solidify, and polish it. It can be utilized in specific circumstances where a tooth has actually been broken or become stained. These are usually minor repairs, ones that can be resolved through this fairly inexpensive ways rather than through a more expensive dental treatment.
How It Works:
Bonding includes adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to fix damage done to the tooth by decay, to change the alignment of the tooth, close spaces between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface of the tooth is roughened in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface, and a primer/bond agent is applied so the material sticks to the surface area. Then the material itself is placed on the tooth and solidified with intense light. The composite resin material is formed and polished to obtain a lustrous finish as a last step.
