At our dental practice we do same day crowns. You may ask, what are same day crowns and what can it do for me?

It is a 3D system that lets us make porcelain crowns and inlays all in one appointment. We have actually now been using this technology for multiple years and love it more than ever.

Same day crowns are an in-surgery computer system that enables us to change broken or missing tooth structures with a ceramic material that's as close to a natural tooth as is possible.

This is done while you are in the practice, in simply one visit. All ceramic porcelain inlays and onlays, veneers and crowns that look and feel like natural teeth can be made and fitted in a single appointment, typically in about an hour.

So exactly what is the procedure?

We scan the opposite teeth and the way the teeth bite together first. We eliminate the old filling, and decay and any thin weak tooth material and scan the readied tooth.

After this we quit working in the mouth and begin working on the computer.

Everybody likes seeing the pictures of their teeth and the developing of their brand-new tooth. We make 3D design and this information is sent to the milling unit.

Everybody asks if this is like 3D printing and yes it is, but the tooth isn't developed layer by layer, it is cut from a block in the machine, which is much more durable.

The block is then exactly sculpted to produce your brand-new restoration, which is fantastic.

At last, the customized crown restoration bonded flawlessly into the tooth, reinforcing and sealing it at the same time and then we tidy up!

We have to make certain that you can bite correctly, that its smooth and that you can floss.

Same Day Crown Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take exact digital imagery of locations requiring restoration and produce the proper restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in simply one visit. We will develop and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer have to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to fabricate your crown.

CEREC can be used for a broad scope of indications: veneers, inlays, onlays, partial crowns, posterior crowns and anterior crowns.

Today's Discussion Is About:

Root Canal (Endodontic Treatment)

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is needed when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and discover problems early). Often deep restorations or trauma to a tooth may also trigger the nerve to be damaged to the point it needs root canal treatment. When this happens, the pulp ends up being infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it needs to be treated, and can not heal on its own. It can even deteriorate the whole immune system. This is dangerous, and may be extremely uncomfortable. Signs that the pulp has ended up being infected might include sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, discomfort, swelling, discomfort to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Often, however, no symptoms are apparent and the person is unaware of any issue up until a checkup.

A root canal is then carried out to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and sanitize the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. Once the infection is dealt with, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any more infection. Usually a core build-up and crown is suggested for restoring a tooth that has actually had root canal therapy.
