What Are Single Visit Crowns?

Same day crowns are a new technology that a dental expert can financially restore broken teeth in a single visit using a top quality ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling machine in one instrument. The dental practitioner uses a special camera to take an accurate picture of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is downloaded and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD technology to develop the restoration. Then CAM takes over and instantly develops the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dentist bonds the new restoration to the surface area of the old tooth. The whole procedure takes about one hour.

What Does This Technology Mean For A Client?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dentists no longer have to develop temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the traditional second visit has actually been eliminated. This brand-new innovation has more than 10 years of medical research and documents to support it. The restorations have been proven precise, safe and reliable.

The Discussion For Today Will Be:

Porcelain Tooth Veneers

Veneers are a really thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and attractive smile.

Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

As with many dental restorations, veneers might one day need replacement; however, they are still very durable and will last multiple years, giving you a long lasting, beautiful smile.

How Are Veneers Set?

Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.

The direct technique normally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is typically referred to as bonding.

The indirect technique generally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.

You will receive care directions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your new and beautiful veneers.
