If you have a fractured or busted tooth, are experiencing discomfort when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperature levels, or want to get rid of unsightly metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be a good option for you. Dental Crowns cover the visible surface area of the affected tooth, adding sturdiness and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are a choice that we provide on a case by case basis to patients who would benefit from the treatment. They enable clients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their final dental crown in place that same day. This gets rid of the need to have a short-term crown placed then another visit arranged for the positioning of the final crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our new innovation that scans the mouth to obtain the appropriate measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, and then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are very strong and resilient and constructed of the highest quality porcelain available. In some cases, a gold crown might be suggested for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clench your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the expense may differ between the two and you may wish to discuss your budget too with the your dentist. Your dental practitioner will discuss with you the kinds of crowns available and give you a suggestion based on your particular situation.

Call us to set up a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to meeting you.

Today's Subject Is:

Bridges (Dental)

A dental bridge is a fixed (non-removable) appliance and is an excellent method to replace missing teeth.

There are multiple types of bridges. We will discuss the best options for your specific case. The "traditional bridge" is the most popular type and is typically made of porcelain fused to metal. These fixed bridges are most popular because they resemble your natural teeth. This kind of bridge includes two crowns that go over two anchoring teeth (abutment teeth) and are connected on either side of the synthetic teeth (pontics), filling the gap developed by one or more missing teeth.

Dental bridges are highly durable and will last years with proper home care; however, they might need to be replaced or re-cemented due to regular wear.

Reasons For Getting A Fixed Bridge:

  • Restore chewing and speaking ability.

  • Maintain facial shape.

  • Fill area of missing teeth.

  • Prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position.

  • Upgrade from a removable partial denture to a permanent dental appliance.

  • Restore your smile.

What does getting a Fixed Bridge include?

Getting a bridge generally needs 2 or more visits. While the teeth are numb, the two anchoring teeth are prepared by eliminating a part of enamel to enable a crown. Next, a extremely precise impression (mold) is made which will be sent to a dental lab where the bridge will be made. In addition, a short-term bridge will be made and used for multiple weeks up until your next appointment.

At the second visit, your permanent bridge will be carefully inspected, adjusted, and cemented to accomplish a appropriate fit and comfortable bite.

You will receive care directions at the conclusion of your treatment. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your new permanent bridge.

Why You Should Consider Dental Bridges?

This is an option for filling the space produced by a missing tooth. It is formed to look like the missing tooth, and it takes its place in the mouth. The sides of a bridge uses the two surrounding teeth for support, hence the name. A bridge replaces the missing tooth, both functionally and cosmetically. Bridge work is as much an art as it is an exact science. The materials used might be gold alloys, porcelain bonded to metal alloy, or all ceramic material. The option of material depends on requirements for strength, wear, and/or esthetics.

It is essential that a missing tooth be replaced as quickly as possible for numerous reasons. If not treated the teeth surrounding the space start to move inward, developing a whole chain reaction of bad things. Teeth use their neighbors for assistance, and, with one missing, they begin to "fall." As this gets worse the bite changes in response to the pressure. This can eventually result in problems with the entire jaw, e.g. TMJ. The surrounding teeth deteriorate and it is just a matter of time before they, too, are lost. Gum disease becomes a severe issue, with the difficulty of treatment enhancing as the neglect continues.
