Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a lovely and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like the majority of dental restorations, veneers may one day require replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last multiple years, giving you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique typically involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique typically involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is typically less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and stunning veneers.
