There are different types of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have actually become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is big enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. No one enjoys losing their natural teeth, but you can still eat and talk regularly.
The whole mouth is analyzed and a determination is made about which teeth will need to be removed, and which will stay. The loose teeth are then extracted. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth remain in the mouth, depending upon the type. There is an adjustment time after dentures are put in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. Once accustomed to the dentures, all the normal performance and look return and one just carries on as usual. Frequently implants can be used to further support the dentures.
It is very important to note that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a major lifestyle change when as compared to natural teeth. Dentures affect the kind of food you are able to eat, your self-confidence in social circumstances, as well as your self-confidence.
A Few Reasons For Getting A Full Denture:
- All Teeth missing in the same arch
- Restore chewing ability
- Restore a natural looking smile
- Economical alternative to other treatments
An upper complete denture will usually feel much better than a lower complete denture. In order to drastically improve the fit of a lower full denture, we regularly recommend using dental implants as a retentive mechanism. Two dental implants positioned in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and substantially enhance comfort. In some cases, the implants can even be positioned in the jaw after a denture has been in use for multiple years.
