Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a really thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to a lot of dental restorations, veneers may someday require replacement; however, they are still extremely long lasting and will last years, giving you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct method typically involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect method usually involves two appointments because the veneers will be made at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
