What Are Single Visit Crowns?

Same day crowns are a new technology that a dental expert can financially bring back broken teeth in a single visit using a premium ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling device in one instrument. The dental practitioner uses a unique camera to take an accurate picture of the broken tooth. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD technology to design the restoration. Then CAM takes over and instantly develops the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dentist bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface area of the old tooth. The entire process takes about one hour.

Exactly What Does This Technology Mean For A Client?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dental practitioners no longer have to produce temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional second appointment has been eliminated. This new innovation has over 10 years of clinical research and documents to support it. The restorations have actually been proven accurate, safe and reliable.

The Conversation Of The Day Is:

Dental Bonding (Composite)

Bonding is a procedure in which we use a tooth-colored composite product to a tooth, shape it, allow it to solidify, and polish it. It can be used in specific situations where a tooth has been broken or ended up being stained. These are typically small repairs, ones that can be resolved through this relatively affordable means rather than through a more expensive dental procedure.

Here's How It Works:
Bonding includes adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to repair damage done to the tooth by decay, to modify the positioning of the tooth, close spaces between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface area of the tooth is roughened in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface area, and a primer/bond agent is applied so the material adheres to the surface area. Then the material itself is put on the tooth and solidified with intense light. The composite resin material is shaped and polished to get a lustrous finish as a last step.
