What Are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns are a new innovation that a dental practitioner can financially bring back damaged teeth in a single visit using a premium ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling device in one instrument. The dental practitioner uses a unique camera to take an precise photo of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is downloaded and shown on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD technology to create the restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically develops the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The entire process takes about one hour.

What Does This Innovation Mean For A Patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dentists no longer have to develop temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional second visit has actually been removed. This brand-new technology has over 10 years of clinical research and documentation to support it. The restorations have been proven accurate, safe and reliable.

Today Were Talking About:

Dental Bonding (Composite)

Bonding is a procedure in which we apply a tooth-colored composite material to a tooth, shape it, allow it to solidify, and polish it. It can be utilized in certain scenarios where a tooth has been broken or ended up being stained. These are normally small repairs, ones that can be resolved through this reasonably affordable methods rather than through a more costly dental treatment.

Here's How It Works:
Bonding includes adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to repair damage done to the tooth by decay, to change the positioning of the tooth, close spaces between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface area of the tooth is roughened in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface area, and a primer/bond agent is applied so the material adheres to the surface area. Then the material itself is placed on the tooth and hardened with intense light. The composite resin material is formed and polished to get a glossy finish as a last step.
