Three Reasons To Get Same Day Crowns

If you've ever actually had a crown placed over one of your teeth in the past, you understand that the procedure usually involves at least 2 visits to the dentist and the positioning of a temporary crown before you getting your long-term one.

However, there is a new procedure for getting crowns that can enable you to get a long-term crown the same day. As the name suggests, same day crown devices allow crowns to be produced right there close to the dental practitioner's chair.

Take a look at a few reasons why same day crowns might be right for you.

Better Looking Teeth

Same day crowns are made completely of ceramic, eliminating the requirement for metal. While metal crowns are completely functional and safe, they're often considered less appealing than ceramic.

Ceramic crowns more closely resemble your natural enamel, making them an aesthetically preferable option, especially for highly-visible front teeth.

Same day crown devices can match the crown exactly to the shade of your natural teeth.

Saves Time And Money

Every hour you spend at the dentist's office is an hour off work or away from another activity or obligation.

Having to go back to the dental practitioner's office a number of times for one procedure might indicate getting time off at work approved for more than one day, hiring a sitter for more than one day, or filling your vehicle with gas to drive out of your way more than once in a brief time-span.

However you take a look at it, multiple dental appointments cost you cash, in addition to what you're spending on the dental treatment. Getting everything performed in one appointment conserves time, and time is money.

Conserves More Natural Teeth

The device used in the same day crown treatment takes a digital scan of your tooth and then is used to mill the crown on the spot, using the exact specs supplied by the digital scan.

This allows the dentist to keep as much of your natural tooth structure as possible, which is the healthiest option for your jaw.

This also allows the dentist to use the device to develop inlays or onlays. These are partial crowns, used when you need more coverage than a filling will offer but less than a complete crown.

Thanks to the more accurate digital measurements provided by the same day crown machine, teeth that might once have actually required a complete crown might now be candidates for just a partial crown.

If you know that one of your chipped teeth will probably require a crown, be sure to make a visit with our dental practitioners today.

Today's Topic Will Be About:

UltraSonic Tooth Cleaning

We use ultrasonic scalers for the majority of adult dental cleanings. These devices utilize ultrasonic vibrations to help breakdown the plaque and calculus on the teeth that cause gingivitis and gum disease. The ultrasonic cleaners produce microscopic bubbles that implode on the surface of the tooth, eliminating microorganisms and removing plaque and tartar in the process. Our instruments use a thin tip to better navigate in the gum pockets to help maintain optimal gingival health.

  • The treatment only uses water, no chemicals are used.

  • It can eliminate tartar buildup in hard-to-reach areas, without any damage to the tooth enamel.

  • Manual scaling typically uses pressure for cleaning, while the vibration produced by the scaling tip of an ultrasonic scaler is barely noticeable. This makes ultrasonic cleaning appropriate to those with sensitive teeth.

  • The cleaning procedure is much faster than manual scaling making your visit more comfy.

After your teeth have been cleaned with the ultrasonic cleaner, your teeth will be hand scaled to check for any residual deposits and then polished.
