There are different kinds of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is great enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. No one enjoys losing their natural teeth, however you can still eat and talk regularly.
The entire mouth is examined and a decision is made as to which teeth will have to be removed, and which will remain. The loose teeth are then extracted. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth remain in the mouth, depending upon the type. There is an adjustment period after dentures are put in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. Once accustomed to the dentures, all the regular functionality and appearance return and one simply carries on as usual. Commonly implants can be used to further support the dentures.
It is essential to note that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a significant lifestyle change when as compared to natural teeth. Dentures affect the type of food you have the ability to eat, your self-confidence in social situations, as well as your self-esteem.
Reasons For Considering A Full Denture:
- All Teeth missing in the exact same arch
- Restore chewing capability
- Restore a natural looking smile
- Economical alternative to other treatments
An upper full denture will usually feel better than a lower complete denture. In order to drastically enhance the fit of a lower complete denture, we frequently recommend using dental implants as a retentive mechanism. Two dental implants positioned in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and considerably improve comfort. In some cases, the implants can even be positioned in the jaw after a denture has been in use for numerous years.
