If you have a fractured or damaged tooth, are experiencing pain when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperature levels, or wish to get rid of unsightly metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be a great alternative for you. Dental Crowns cover the outter surface area of the affected tooth, adding resilience and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are a choice that we provide on a case by case basis to patients who would gain from the treatment. They enable clients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their final dental crown in place that same day. This gets rid of the need to have a temporary crown placed then another visit arranged for the placement of the permanent crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our new technology that scans the mouth to obtain the proper measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, and then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are extremely strong and resilient and constructed out of the highest quality porcelain available. In some cases, a gold crown might be advised for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clench your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the expense may differ between the two and you might wish to discuss your budget as well with the your dental practitioner. Your dentist will discuss with you the types of crowns available and give you a suggestion based on your particular situation.

Call us to arrange a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to meeting you.

Today Were Going Over:

Root Canal

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is necessary when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and detect issues early). In some cases deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also trigger the nerve to be damaged to the point it needs root canal treatment. Once this happens, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and begin to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it has to be treated, and can not heal on its own. It can even weaken the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and might be really painful. Symptoms that the pulp has become infected might consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, pain, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Sometimes, however, no signs appear and the person is unaware of any problem until a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and disinfect the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. Once the infection is resolved, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any further infection. Typically a core build-up and crown is suggested for restoring a tooth that has had root canal therapy.
