The Benefits Of Using Same Day Crowns Are:

  • It is time-saving. It allows you to have your dental crown put in place in simply one dental visit.

  • Its material is biocompatible. Same day crowns use ceramic which mimics the appearance of your natural teeth thus making it aesthetically pleasing. It does not cause temperature sensitivity which holds true in the case of dental crowns made from metals.

  • It is durable. Same day crowns have the same sturdiness as those made from gold materials.

  • It is more precise. The impression made from this brand-new innovation is more precise as compared to traditional impressions.

  • Taking dental impression is more comfortable. Same day crowns use intraoral camera and CAD to take the impression of the tooth while standard dental impression is done using salt alignate.

The only disadvantage of a single visit crown is that not all patients are candidates for this procedure. Patients with extensive tooth damage that has actually reached the gum line needs a standard crown instead of a same day crown. Also, the damage in the front tooth requires a laboratory-manufactured crown because they are diligently made than same day crowns.

If you are interested with this type of procedure or you have additional questions or concerns relating to same day crowns, call us today.

Today's Topic Is:

TMJ (Temporal-Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are associated with the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the issue. If untreated and taken to extremes, surgery may be needed to fix a badly damaged joint.
