If you have a fractured or busted tooth, are experiencing pain when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperature levels, or want to get rid of unsightly metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be an excellent alternative for you. Dental Crowns cover the visible surface area of the affected tooth, adding sturdiness and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are an option that we offer on a case by case basis to clients who would benefit from the procedure. They allow patients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their permanent dental crown in place that same day. This removes the need to have a temporary crown placed and then another check-up arranged for the placement of the permanent crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our brand-new technology that scans the mouth to obtain the proper measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are extremely strong and resilient and constructed of the highest quality porcelain available. In some cases, a gold crown might be advised for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clinch your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the cost may differ between the two and you might want to talk about your budget too with the your dentist. Your dental practitioner will go over with you the types of crowns available and give you a suggestion based on your particular circumstance.

Call us to arrange a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to talking to you.

Same Day Crown Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take accurate digital images of areas requiring restoration and produce the proper restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in just one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer have to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to make your crown.

CEREC can be utilized for a broad scope of indications: partial crowns, posterior crowns, anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays.

Today's Topic Will Be:

Endodontic Treatment (Root Canal)

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is required when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and discover problems early). Often deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also cause the nerve to be damaged to the point it needs root canal therapy. When this occurs, the pulp ends up being infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it must be treated, and can not heal on its own. It can even deteriorate the whole immune system. This is dangerous, and may be extremely agonizing. Symptoms that the pulp has actually become infected might consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, pain, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. In some cases, however, no signs appear and the person is unaware of any issue till a checkup.

A root canal is then carried out to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and disinfect the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. As soon as the infection is resolved, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any additional infection. Generally a core build-up and crown is recommended for recovering a tooth that has actually had root canal treatment.
