Maintaining both is crucial to having a healthy smile
In the past, using a traditional crown to fix a tooth and protect the root underneath took a minimum of two visits to the dentist.

At the first appointment, the dentist would prepare the tooth and then take an impression, which would be sent out to a dental laboratory. While the lab produced the long-term crown, the client would use a temporary crown to secure the tooth.

As soon as the permanent crown arrived back in the dental practitioner's office, the patient would return to have the crown sealed or adhesively bonded into place.

Today Were Discussing:

Composite Dental Bonding

Bonding is a procedure where we use a tooth-colored composite product to a tooth, shape it, allow it to harden, and polish it. It can be used in specific scenarios where a tooth has actually been broken or ended up being stained. These are normally small repairs, ones that can be resolved through this relatively inexpensive ways rather than through a more pricey dental treatment.

Here Is How It Works:
Bonding includes adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to fix damage done to the tooth by decay, to alter the alignment of the tooth, close spaces between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface area of the tooth is roughed up in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface, and a primer/bond agent is used so the material sticks to the surface. Then the material itself is positioned on the tooth and hardened with intense light. The composite resin material is shaped and polished to obtain a lustrous finish as a last step.
