How Can Same Day Crowns Benefit Me?

With this new technology it permits dental practitioners to custom-craft restorations in as little as one hour. With this, we can fabricate natural looking crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers here in our office while you unwind. Now, there is no longer a need to make multiple trips to the dental practitioner's office to be measured and fitted with short-term restorations - you can enjoy a dazzling, natural looking, and resilient option for your missing or broken teeth today.

Initially, your dentist will consult with you to go over the information of the treatment. During the procedure, the dentist will apply a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a unique camera to take a photo of your tooth.

Using the brand-new software, the photo acts as a map to design your tooth's restoration. Then, it will use a diamond bur and disk-work to produce your restoration piece from ceramic.

Lastly, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry.

It makes your teeth tougher and more stunning - all while keeping your teeth looking natural. The restoration is metal-free and the top-quality ceramic product is compatible with the natural tissue found in your mouth.

Dental Crowns

A crown (or cap) is a covering that covers the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original sizes and shape. A crown protects and strengthens the tooth structure giving the tooth a longer life span than it would have if recovered by fillings or other kinds of restorations.

Crowns are full coverage restorations that are used to cover a tooth that is likely to break, or is too broken down to be recovered with a filling. They are most commonly done after root canal treatments, or when a large filling breaks. The larger the hole made by a cavity that has to be treated, the more likely a crown will be needed. Even after a filling is put in a large cavity, a tooth is most likely to break. Keep in mind that the jaw muscles are the strongest in the body. Teeth undergo incredible pressures. Crowns sit over the weakened tooth, offering strength and securing the tooth against damage. A busted or cracked tooth is a much more serious matter and a lot more tough to treat. Crowns prevent this, in addition to producing a nice smile.

It takes 2 visits to bring back a tooth with a crown. In the first appointment any decay is eliminated from the tooth and it is shaped to accept the crown. Then an impression is made of the tooth for use in fabricating a crown. Between the two visits the crown is made, normally of high-strength porcelain over gold alloy, all ceramic material, or gold. A short-term crown is worn throughout this time. In the 2nd visit this short-term crown is removed. Then the {permanent crown is adjusted as needed and then cemented in place.

What Does Getting A Crown Include?

A crown treatment generally needs two appointments. Your very first visit will include taking impressions that will be utilized to produce your custom crown. A mold will also be utilized to create a temporary crown which will remain on your tooth for approximately two weeks until your brand-new crown is produced by a dental lab.

While the tooth is numb, the dentist will prepare the tooth by getting rid of any decay and shaping the surface area to effectively fit the crown. As soon as these details are accomplished, your short-term crown will be put with temporary cement and your bite will be inspected to ensure you are biting correctly.

At your second appointment your short-term crown will be removed, the tooth will be cleaned, and your new crown will be thoroughly placed to ensure the spacing and bite are accurate.

You will be given care guidelines and encouraged to have routine dental visits to inspect your crown. As always, correct oral hygiene will help extend the life of your brand-new crown.
