Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like the majority of dental restorations, veneers might someday require replacement; however, they are still very durable and will last many years, offering you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique normally involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect method typically involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and lovely veneers.
