Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a lovely and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with a lot of dental restorations, veneers may one day require replacement; however, they are still very long lasting and will last multiple years, providing you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method normally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique generally involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care directions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and lovely veneers.
