ONE DAY DENTAL WORK
MONROE CITY INDIANA

Updated On Thursday, November 15, 2018 05:00:10 AM

Our practice loves new innovations, particularly when it improves the dental care that we can supply to our patients. Because of this we now provide same day crowns.

Same day crowns are a wonderful new innovation where lovely all porcelain crowns are developed within 2 hours of the prep work of a tooth for a crown. The old process was where the dental practitioner prepared your tooth for a crown, took an impression and sent this impression to a laboratory to get the crown constructed. During this time the patient would have to have a temporary plastic crown that was always uncomfy.

Today, our equipment permits us to scan the tooth preparation and mill out a new all porcelain crown within 2 hours. This means that the client leaves our office with the final crown that day!

  • There is no need to wear a short-term crown for two or three weeks.

  • There's no need to return again to have the one day crown inserted on your tooth.

  • There's no need to be numbed once again! No more needles!

Our practice prefers same day crowns since it is made of beautiful material and also very resilient.

If your interested in a same day crown, please give our office a call.

The Topic Of The Day Will Be:

Fillings

Fillings are done to eliminate decay, and replace the afflicted tooth structure. It is called a filling due to the fact that brand-new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can result in tooth pain and/or infection, and the tooth would need a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are two types of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists supply both kinds of fillings, however find that a lot of their clients prefer the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mixture of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings offer good resilience and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that have to stand up to moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is removed when the dentist prepares the tooth, and this might result in a smaller sized filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively attached, to the tooth, typically enabling a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry during the whole filling procedure and they undergo stain and staining over time. The life expectancy of a white filling can depend considerably on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also typically utilized to fix front teeth that have broken or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is normally much cheaper than veneers or crowns. However, bonding generally does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
