Three Reasons To Choose Same Day Crowns

If you've ever had a crown positioned over one of your teeth in the past, you know that the process usually includes a minimum of two visits to the dental practitioner and the positioning of a temporary crown prior to you getting your long-term one.

However, there is a new procedure for installing crowns that can permit you to obtain a long-term crown the same day. As the name suggests, same day crown machines enables crowns to be developed right there beside the dental practitioner's chair.

Take a look at a couple of reasons same day crowns might be right for you.

More Attractive Teeth

Same day crowns are made completely of ceramic, eliminating the requirement for metal. While metal crowns are perfectly practical and safe, they're often considered less attractive than ceramic.

Ceramic crowns more closely resemble your natural enamel, making them an visually preferable alternative, particularly for highly-visible front teeth.

Same day crown devices can match the crown exactly to the shade of your natural teeth.

Saves Time And Money

Every hour you invest at the dentist's office is an hour off work or away from another activity or responsibility.

Having to go back to the dental practitioner's office several times for one treatment might indicate getting time off at work approved for more than one day, hiring a babysitter for more than one day, or filling your vehicle with gas to drive out of your way more than once in a short time-span.

However you look at it, several dental appointments cost you money, in addition to exactly what you're spending on the dental treatment. Getting everything performed in one visit conserves time, and time is money.

Conserves More Natural Teeth

The device used in the same day crown procedure takes a digital scan of your tooth and after that is used to mill the crown on the spot, using the exact specifications supplied by the digital scan.

This permits the dentist to preserve as much of your natural tooth structure as possible, which is the healthiest choice for your jaw.

This also enables the dentist to use the device to create inlays or onlays. These are partial crowns, used when you need more protection than a filling will provide but less than a full crown.

Thanks to the more accurate digital measurements offered by the same day crown machine, teeth that may once have needed a complete crown might now be prospects for just a partial crown.

If you think that one of your chipped teeth will probably require a crown, make sure to make an appointment with our dental practitioners today.

The Discussion For Today Will Be:

Temporal Mandibular Joint

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are associated with the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps in between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the issue. If neglected and taken to extremes, surgery may be required to fix a severely damaged joint.
