If you have a fractured or busted tooth, are experiencing pain when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperature levels, or wish to get rid of unsightly metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be a good option for you. Dental Crowns cover the visible surface area of the affected tooth, adding toughness and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are an option that we provide on a case by case basis to clients who would benefit from the treatment. They enable patients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their permanent dental crown in place that same day. This removes the need to have a temporary crown placed then another check-up set up for the placement of the final crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our new technology that scans the mouth to obtain the appropriate measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are very strong and resilient and constructed of the highest quality porcelain available. Sometimes, a gold crown might be suggested for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clinch your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the expense may vary between the two and you may want to talk about your budget as well with the your dentist. Your dentist will discuss with you the kinds of crowns available and give you a suggestion based upon your specific scenario.

Call us to schedule a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to talking to you.

TMJ (Temporal-Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the issue. If unattended and taken to extremes, surgery may be required to repair a badly damaged joint.
