Don't have time for the normal two dental visit crown?

Technology today is altering our everyday lives. Many people, however, aren't aware that technology also is affecting dentistry in brand-new and amazing methods.

Cutting-edge developments in dental instruments are requiring less time in the dental chair, triggering less discomfort and producing gratifying outcomes.

One advancement instrument, called same day crowns, allow dental practitioners to quickly fix damaged teeth with natural-colored ceramic fillings, saving patients time and inconvenience.

What are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns, indicates that a dentist can economically restore damaged teeth in a single visit using a top quality ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How does it work?

Same day crowns use CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, including a camera, computer, and milling machine in one instrument.

The dental practitioner uses a unique camera to take an accurate picture of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is moved and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner utilizes CAD technology to create the restoration. The CAM takes over and automatically creates the restoration while the patient waits.

At lastly, the dental practitioner bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole procedure takes about two hours.

Exactly what does this innovation do for a patient?

A tooth-colored restoration indicates no more silver fillings tarnishing smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant.

Dentists no longer need to develop temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the standard 2nd visit has been removed.

Same day crowns have 20 years of medical research study and paperwork to promote the innovation. The restorations have been proven accurate, safe and effective.

How can I learn if this is an alternative for me?

Call our office today and we will be happy to address your concerns on this new technology.

Today's Topic Will Be:

UltraSonic Tooth Cleaning

We use ultrasonic scalers for many adult dental cleanings. These devices use ultrasonic vibrations to help breakdown the plaque and calculus on the teeth that trigger gingivitis and periodontal disease. The ultrasonic cleaners create microscopic bubbles that implode on the surface of the tooth, killing microbes and eliminating plaque and tartar in the process. Our instruments use a thin tip to better navigate in the gum pockets to help maintain optimal gingival health.

  • The procedure only uses water, no chemicals are used.

  • It can remove tartar buildup in hard-to-reach areas, without any damage to the tooth enamel.

  • Manual scaling often uses pressure for cleaning, while the vibration produced by the scaling tip of an ultrasonic scaler is hardly perceptible. This makes ultrasonic cleaning ideal to those with vulnerable teeth.

  • The cleaning procedure is quicker than manual scaling making your visit more comfy.

After your teeth have actually been cleaned with the ultrasonic cleaner, your teeth will be hand scaled to look for any residual deposits and after that polished.
