Three Reasons To Choose Same Day Crowns

If you've ever actually had a crown placed over one of your teeth before, you know that the process generally includes a minimum of 2 visits to the dentist and the positioning of a temporary crown before you getting your permanent one.

However, there is a brand-new procedure for installing crowns that can allow you to obtain a long-term crown the same day. As the name suggests, same day crown devices permits crowns to be produced right there next to the dental practitioner's chair.

Take a look at a few reasons that same day crowns might be right for you.

Natural Looking Teeth

Same day crowns are made completely of ceramic, removing the need for metal. While metal crowns are completely functional and safe, they're often thought as less attractive than ceramic.

Ceramic crowns more closely resemble your natural enamel, making them an visually preferable alternative, particularly for highly-visible front teeth.

Same day crown devices can match the crown precisely to the shade of your natural teeth.

Less Wasted Time And Money

Every hour you spend at the dental practitioner's office is an hour off work or away from another activity or obligation.

Having to go back to the dentist's office multiple times for one procedure might mean getting time off at work authorized for more than one day, hiring a sitter for more than one day, or filling your automobile with gas to drive out of your way more than once in a short time-span.

However you take a look at it, multiple dental visits cost you cash, in addition to exactly what you're spending on the dental procedure. Getting everything carried out in one appointment saves time, and time is money.

Conserves More Natural Teeth

The machine used in the same day crown procedure takes a digital scan of your tooth and then is used to mill the crown on the spot, using the exact requirements provided by the digital scan.

This allows the dentist to preserve as much of your natural tooth structure as possible, which is the healthiest option for your jaw.

This also permits the dental practitioner to use the machine to create inlays or onlays. These are partial crowns, used when you need more protection than a filling will offer but less than a full crown.

Thanks to the more precise digital measurements offered by the same day crown machine, teeth that might once have needed a complete crown might now be candidates for only a partial crown.

If you know that one of your chipped teeth will probably require a crown, make sure to make a visit with our dental practitioners today.

Today's Discussion Will Be About:

Endodontic Treatment (Root Canal)

Root canal treatment (also referred to as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is needed when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and find issues early). Sometimes deep restorations or trauma to a tooth may also cause the nerve to be harmed to the point it needs root canal treatment. Once this occurs, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it should be treated, and can not recover on its own. It can even damage the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and might be really unpleasant. Signs that the pulp has become infected may consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, pain, swelling, discomfort to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Sometimes, however, no signs are apparent and the person is unaware of any problem up until a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and disinfect the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to remove the tooth. As soon as the infection is resolved, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any further infection. Usually a core build-up and crown is recommended for restoring a tooth that has actually had root canal treatment.
