Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a gorgeous and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to most dental restorations, veneers might at some point require replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last multiple years, offering you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method generally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy typically involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental lab. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and lovely veneers.
