Two Benefits Offered By Same Day Crowns

Crown procedures are extremely common and are mainly used in place of a filling when the tooth has lost too much of its initial structure to support the filling.

Among the best ways to obtain a crown used is to see a dentist that offers same day crowns, which eliminates some of the inconvenience that occurs with a conventional crown procedure.

A same day crown is a great choice due to the fact that it can limit your pain and hassle.

Limit Discomfort

A same day crown is made possible when a dental practitioner decides to forego ordering crowns from a dental lab and purchases the devices to fabricate the crowns onsite.

One of the biggest advantages to this is that it negates the need for you to wear a temporary crown.

This is helpful because a short-term crown can be a major source of pain for the multiple days or weeks that you have to wear it prior to your last crown is applied.

One reason that a short-term crown can add to your discomfort is that they are really rarely able to completely seal your tooth.

This can be an issue as that means that liquids, cold air, and food can possibly get under the short-term crown and reach your exposed nerve, which can be exceptionally agonizing.

Another factor that a temporary crown can be unpleasant is because it can often become fairly loose. Once it is loose, the short-term crown can start scraping and scratch the gums around it.

While a temporary crown is not meant to be used long term, why trouble with it at all when you can get a same day crown and prevent one completely?

Reduce Inconvenience

Finally, conventional crowns usually take up to several weeks to finish.

This is due to the fact that your first appointment is meant to treat the issues with your tooth, create a mold for the long-term crown, and connect a temporary crown.

After that, you will wind up waiting numerous days or weeks before you can return to the dental practitioner for the long-term crown.

The problem with this technique is that you will need to set up numerous appointments, which can be very bothersome if you have a hectic schedule due to school, work, or anything else.

However, a same day crown can be finished in just one appointment, which eliminates much of the hassle associated with crown treatments.

Speak with your local dental practitioner today in order to go over whether a same day crown is a great suitable for you and your scenario.

A same day crown is a fantastic method to limit both your inconvenience and discomfort when getting a crown.

Temporal-Mandibular Joint

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint might be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps in between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the problem. If untreated and required to extremes, surgery may be required to fix a terribly damaged joint.
