Two Reasons To Talk With Your Dental Practitioner Concerning Same Day Crowns

Same day crowns are a terrific option that makes getting a crown much more practical and less time-consuming. These crowns operate in much the same way as traditional crowns, except that same-day crowns are made in the dentist's office while you are waiting, instead of being purchased from a dental laboratory like traditional crowns.

Here are two reasons to speak to your dentist about the possibility of getting a same day crown:

A lot more Convenient

Convenience is going to be the most significant factor that many people decide to opt for a same-day crown.

In the past, getting a crown would mean that you would need to pay multiple visits to your dental practitioner before the crown was in position, with one appointment devoted to preparing your tooth and another visit to place the long-term crown over your tooth.

While that might not appear like it is too time-consuming, it can typically be hard to take some time off from your job or family numerous times in the space of a week or 2 in order to see your dentist throughout regular business hours.

Because the same-day crown is produced in-house by your dental practitioner, you will have the last crown fitted over the tooth before you leave from your one required crown appointment.

This is helpful since you will not have to stress over irritating your employer, having your co-workers cover for you, or missing out on pay due to the fact that you had to leave in the middle of the work day multiple times to go to the dentist.

A Lot More Comfortable

Another reason to ask your dentist for a same-day crown is comfort. Same day crowns are more comfy since you won't have to spend a week or more having a short-term crown while awaiting your permanent crown.

A temporary crown can frequently provide quite a bit of inflammation and discomfort since it can often end up being loose quickly.

When a short-term crown is loose, it can permit liquids to get under it and touch nerves in the exposed roots of your tooth. The loose fit can also trigger the short-term crown to move along your gum and cause the skin to become scratched and irritated.

While you usually do not have to wear a short-term crown for long, a same-day crown can enable you to prevent any issues related to the temporary crown entirely.

This kind of crown is going to be both a lot more comfy and much more practical to get than a traditional crown.

Same Day Crown Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take accurate digital imagery of areas requiring restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in simply one visit. We will create and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. Today's Subject Will Be:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint might be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Sometimes a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If untreated and taken to extremes, surgery may be required to repair a badly damaged joint.
