Don't have time for the normal two dental visit crown?

Technology today is changing our everyday lives. Many individuals, however, aren't aware that technology also is affecting dentistry in brand-new and amazing methods.

Advanced innovations in dental instruments are requiring less time in the dental chair, triggering less discomfort and producing rewarding outcomes.

One development instrument, called same day crowns, allow dental practitioners to rapidly fix damaged teeth with natural-colored ceramic fillings, saving patients time and trouble.

Exactly what are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns, indicates that a dentist can economically restore damaged teeth in a single visit using a high-quality ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How does it work?

Same day crowns use CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, integrating a camera, computer, and milling machine in one instrument.

The dentist uses a unique camera to take a precise image of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is moved and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner utilizes CAD technology to design the restoration. The CAM takes over and automatically develops the restoration while the client waits.

At lastly, the dentist bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The entire procedure takes about two hours.

What does this development do for a client?

A tooth-colored restoration indicates no more silver fillings tarnishing smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant.

Dental practitioners no longer need to produce temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the traditional 2nd appointment has actually been removed.

Same day crowns have 20 years of clinical research study and paperwork to promote the innovation. The restorations have actually been proven accurate, safe and effective.

How can I learn if this is an alternative for me?

Call our office today and we will be glad to address your questions on this brand-new technology.

Today's Subject Will Be:

Root Canal

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is required when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and find problems early). In some cases deep restorations or trauma to a tooth may also cause the nerve to be damaged to the point it requires root canal treatment. As soon as this takes place, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and begin to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it must be treated, and can not heal on its own. It can even weaken the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and might be extremely uncomfortable. Symptoms that the pulp has ended up being infected may consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, discomfort, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Often, however, no symptoms are apparent and the individual is unaware of any problem till a checkup.

A root canal is then carried out to clean out the infected tooth pulp, and disinfect the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. When the infection is fixed, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any more infection. Usually a core build-up and crown is suggested for restoring a tooth that has had root canal treatment.
