Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like the majority of dental restorations, veneers may one day require replacement; however, they are still very resilient and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy generally involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy normally involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your new and beautiful veneers.
