Are you too busy for the typical 2 dental appointment crown?

Technology today is changing our everyday lives. Many people, however, aren't aware that innovation also is affecting dentistry in brand-new and interesting methods.

Cutting-edge innovations in dental instruments are requiring less time in the dental chair, causing less discomfort and creating satisfying outcomes.

One development instrument, called same day crowns, permits dental practitioners to quickly restore broken teeth with natural-colored ceramic fillings, saving clients time and trouble.

What are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns, indicates that a dental practitioner can economically restore broken teeth in a single visit using a top quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How does it work?

Same day crowns use CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, integrating a camera, computer, and milling machine in one instrument.

The dental practitioner uses a special camera to take a precise picture of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is moved and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist utilizes CAD technology to create the restoration. The CAM takes control and immediately develops the restoration while the client waits.

Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface area of the old tooth. The entire procedure takes about two hours.

What does this innovation mean for a client?

A tooth-colored restoration indicates no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant.

Dental practitioners no longer need to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the conventional 2nd appointment has actually been removed.

Same day crowns have two decades of clinical research and paperwork to promote the innovation. The restorations have been shown accurate, safe and effective.

Today's Conversation Will Be About:

Dental Bonding (Composite)

Bonding is a treatment where we apply a tooth-colored composite material to a tooth, shape it, allow it to solidify, and polish it. It can be utilized in certain situations where a tooth has actually been broken or become stained. These are normally minor repairs, ones that can be resolved through this relatively affordable methods rather than through a more costly dental treatment.

How It Works:
Bonding involves adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to repair damage done to the tooth by decay, to modify the positioning of the tooth, close gaps between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface of the tooth is roughed up in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface, and a primer/bond agent is applied so the material sticks to the surface. Then the material itself is placed on the tooth and hardened with intense light. The composite resin material is shaped and polished to obtain a lustrous finish as a last step.
