If you have a fractured or damaged tooth, are experiencing discomfort when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperature levels, or want to remove unattractive metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be a great option for you. Dental Crowns cover the outter surface of the affected tooth, adding toughness and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are a choice that we offer on a case by case basis to patients who would gain from the treatment. They enable clients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their final dental crown in place that same day. This removes the need to have a temporary crown placed then another appointment scheduled for the positioning of the final crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our brand-new technology that scans the mouth to get the appropriate measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, and then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are extremely strong and resilient and made out of the highest quality porcelain available. In some cases, a gold crown might be recommended for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clench your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the expense may differ between the two and you might wish to talk about your budget plan too with the your dental practitioner. Your dental practitioner will go over with you the kinds of crowns available and offer you a suggestion based on your particular circumstance.

Call us to schedule a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to talking to you.

Today's Topic Is:

Fillings

Fillings are done to remove decay, and replace the affected tooth structure. It is called a filling since new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can lead to tooth pain and/or infection, and the tooth would need a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are two types of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists provide both types of fillings, but find that a lot of their patients prefer the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mix of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings provide great toughness and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that need to hold up against moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is removed when the dentist prepares the tooth, and this might result in a smaller sized filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively connected, to the tooth, typically enabling a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry during the entire filling procedure and they go through stain and staining in time. The life expectancy of a white filling can depend significantly on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also frequently utilized to fix front teeth that have actually cracked or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is usually much more economical than veneers or crowns. However, bonding usually does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
