Don't have time for the typical two dental appointment crown?

Technology today is altering our everyday lives. Many people, however, aren't aware that technology also is affecting dentistry in brand-new and amazing ways.

Cutting-edge developments in dental instruments are requiring less time in the dental chair, causing less pain and creating gratifying results.

One development instrument, called same day crowns, permits dentists to rapidly restore broken teeth with natural-colored ceramic fillings, conserving patients time and inconvenience.

Exactly what are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns, indicates that a dentist can economically restore broken teeth in a single appointment using a premium ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How does it work?

Same day crowns use CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, including a camera, computer, and milling machine in one instrument.

The dental practitioner uses a unique camera to take a precise picture of the broken tooth. This optical impression is moved and shown on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD technology to create the restoration. The CAM takes over and immediately produces the restoration while the patient waits.

Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The entire procedure takes about two hours.

Exactly what does this innovation do for a patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings tarnishing smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant.

Dentists no longer have to develop temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the traditional 2nd appointment has been eliminated.

Same day crowns have two decades of clinical research and paperwork to support the innovation. The restorations have actually been proven accurate, safe and efficient.

How can I learn if this is an option for me?

Call our practice today and we will be glad to answer your questions on this brand-new innovation.

The Topic For Today Will Be:

Teeth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of the majority of clients, there are multiple ways to lighten teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth whitening system that will lighten teeth dramatically. Since tooth lightening just works on natural tooth enamel, it is very important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize numerous techniques: customizeded tray bleaching, professional strength white strips, and in-office lightening.

The tray approach involves having impressions taken, which the lab produces into custom vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole procedure takes about a week of daily use. 3 different strengths of gel may be used, however, the greater the strength, the greater the possibility of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is recommended for severely stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take numerous months of use to see considerable color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a very quick and practical bleaching procedure. The visit is roughly one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our patients like this treatment because it is so easy and fast!

Tooth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up might be required once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays must be utilized every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation throughout tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
