Exactly What Are The Benefits Of Same Day Crowns?

There are multiple advantages to having treatment with same day crowns over standard, laboratory-made restorations.

  • Everything is performed in a single appointment, you just need to visit the dental practitioner one time, take one day from your routine to have the treatment, instead of the normal 2 or 3 appointments.

  • Only one anesthetic injections, since the whole procedure can be performed within an hour you just have to have one injection.

  • Your dental practitioner is in complete control of the outcome, since the crown or inlay are designed and produced from start to finish by your dentist, they have total control over how it will look and fit.

  • No short-term restorations, which can frequently fall off in between visits if they are not taken care of correctly.

Today's Subject Is:

Endodontic Treatment (Root Canal)

Root canal treatment (also referred to as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is necessary when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and identify problems early). Sometimes deep restorations or trauma to a tooth may also trigger the nerve to be harmed to the point it needs root canal therapy. When this occurs, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it has to be treated, and can not heal on its own. It can even deteriorate the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and may be really painful. Symptoms that the pulp has become infected may consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sugary foods, discomfort, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. In some cases, however, no symptoms appear and the person is unaware of any problem until a checkup.

A root canal is then carried out to clean out the infected tooth pulp, and sanitize the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to remove the tooth. When the infection is dealt with, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any further infection. Generally a core build-up and crown is suggested for recovering a tooth that has actually had root canal treatment.
