What Are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns are a brand-new innovation that a dental expert can economically restore broken teeth in a single visit using a premium ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling machine in one instrument. The dental practitioner uses a unique camera to take an accurate image of the broken tooth. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD innovation to create the restoration. Then CAM takes over and immediately produces the restoration while the client waits. Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The entire process takes about one hour.

Exactly What Does This Technology Mean For A Patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dental practitioners no longer have to develop temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the standard 2nd appointment has been eliminated. This brand-new innovation has more than 10 years of medical research and documents to support it. The restorations have been proven accurate, safe and effective.

The Conversation For Today Will Be:

Dental Bonding (Composite)

Bonding is a procedure in which we apply a tooth-colored composite product to a tooth, shape it, allow it to harden, and polish it. It can be used in specific scenarios where a tooth has actually been broken or ended up being stained. These are typically minor repairs, ones that can be resolved through this relatively inexpensive means rather than through a more pricey dental treatment.

Here Is How It Works:
Bonding includes adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to fix damage done to the tooth by decay, to change the alignment of the tooth, close gaps between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface area of the tooth is roughened in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface, and a primer/bond agent is applied so the material sticks to the surface area. Then the material itself is placed on the tooth and solidified with intense light. The composite resin material is shaped and polished to obtain a glossy finish as a last step.
