What Are Same Day Dental Crowns?

Same day crowns are a brand-new innovation that a dentist can economically bring back damaged teeth in a single consultation using a high-quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling machine in one instrument. The dental practitioner uses a unique camera to take an precise photo of the broken tooth. This optical impression is downloaded and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD technology to develop the restoration. Then CAM takes over and instantly develops the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole procedure takes about one hour.

What Does This Innovation Mean For A Patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dental practitioners no longer have to produce temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the traditional 2nd visit has actually been removed. This brand-new innovation has over 10 years of scientific research and documents to support it. The restorations have actually been proven precise, safe and efficient.

A Lovely Smile!

A gorgeous smile is one of your greatest possessions - a reflection of joy and good health.

The Conversation For Today Will Be:

Temporal Mandibular Joint

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint might be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces in between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the issue. If untreated and required to extremes, surgery may be required to repair a terribly damaged joint.
